Web3 metaverses are reinforcing the interoperability dream and reaching thousands of users around the world who’ll be able to watch the highlights of the carnival from Salvador, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro.
Carnival is amost here!
The month of February 2023 will be marked in history as the date when the biggest show on Earth, the Brazilian Carnival, had its première in the metaverse.
Dirk Lueth, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Upland, said:
“This is an early example of the future, where interoperability between worlds and metaverses fuels enrichment in a user’s digital life. Major cultural moments like Carnival are tentpoles for opportunities to continue to explore this inevitable future.”
What is the agenda?
The agenda presents Carnival schools, street carnival, shows, and live broadcasts from the parties across the country, with presentations in the famous Salvador street carnival and also the 2023 samba presentation from Mangueira, the biggest Samba School in the country, presented by the Upland metaverse, where the visitors can buy some amazing carnival costumes and have an immersive experience at the Palace of Samba, which has its location mapped in Upland, and is located at the same address in real life and in the metaverse, the famous Mangueira neighborhood, located in Rio de Janeiro.
In the three dimensional replica of Mangueira’s samba sanctuary, it will be possible to have the Behind the Scenes experience with some of the members of the school, like the Queen of Drums session, and other characters, having the chance to know the history of the school and learn this year samba, while dancing with their avatars.
In Salvador, the Float Car Fissura is presenting live shows with Band Filhos de Jorge and DJs DH8 and Clara Cady. The “foliões” – participants of the carnival parties – will have the chance to dance with Miles, the mascot who represents the Upland metaverse, and holders of Upand NFTs unlock benefits and get special access to the party.
In Decentraland, users can dance with their avatars, dress in carnival costumes and use the new collection of samba movements (emojis). Mangueira also receives a special homage in one of the Decentraland carnival bullets and participants can see pictures from the twenty titles won by the pink and green samba school.
During the parties in Decentraland metaverse, some well known digital influencers like Nina Verso and Tang Poko, are going to Interact with the visitors at the Dollhouse party venue.
“The carnival does not have boundaries, neither the metaverse. Recently Upland launched its APIs, consolidating its position as the metaverse super-app. WIth this, users, brands and partners can build their experiences on top of the Upland map. For web3 builders and enthusiasts, this collaboration between Upland and Decentraland is pointing the way to go.”, says Ney Neto, Upland leader for the Latin America region.
