Thailand is bringing the heat with its latest tourism offering – a collection of digital art Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) featuring legendary Muay Thai fighter Buakaw Banchamek.
The “NFT BUAKAW 1 x Amazing Thailand Exclusive Collection” is set to launch in 2023 and features Buakaw in front of a background that changes to show off Thailand’s top tourist attractions in 10 provinces. Talk about a knockout combo – Thailand’s beloved tourism combined with the cultural heritage of Muay Thai. The collection can be seen on OpenSea.
This collection is the result of a collaboration between Buakaw’s Banchamek Gym, SIX Network (a leading blockchain and intermediary finance platform company in Thailand), and Martech group company YDM. The NFTs feature a “travel liquid” function that allows the background to be transformed into scenes from Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Sukhothai, Ranong, and Chanthaburi, just to name a few. There’s also a “symmetric liquid” function that allows for even more customization of the NFTs.
The “NFT BUAKAW 1 x Amazing Thailand Exclusive Collection” will also offer discounts on accommodation at over 50 hotels and resorts throughout Thailand for use in 2023. Plus, NFT holders can invite their friends to join in on the fun through the “Friends Get Friends to Travel” feature on the Buakaw Banchamek Facebook page and potentially win some sweet travel perks.
Thailand embraces NFT technology in the tourism industry
This isn’t the first time Thailand has incorporated NFTs into its tourism strategy. The “Amazing Thailand NFTs” initiative allowed tourists to collect NFTs at five major tourist attractions in Bangkok – China Town, Wat Arun, Giant Swing, and Siam Square – and the Ancient City in Samut Prakan. The “NFT BUAKAW 1 x Amazing Thailand Exclusive Collection” is just the latest way Thailand is bringing together its rich culture and modern technology to enhance the tourist experience.
