Strike to Stroke Exhibition Features NFTs From 32 Artists to Celebrate 2022 FIFA World Cup

The Misheireb Galleria Doha in Qatar is currently home to an art exhibition like no other. In a bid to celebrate the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) has brought together 32 artists to create the Strike to Stroke Non-Fungible Token (NFT) art exhibition.

Strike to Stroke: NFTs, Art, and Artificial Intelligence

64 NFT artworks created by established artists from the competing nations of the 2022 FIFA World Cup currently inhabit the Msheireb Galleria Doha and will do so until the 23rd of December. However, these artworks will be melded in a unique way, depending on the outcome of each World Cup match.

The exhibition features special participation from Artificial Intelligence (AI) which will be used to fuse the pieces representing the contending countries that face off in each of the 64 soccer matches. The result will be a combination of man-made and computer-generated artwork, which will be influenced by each match outcome, giving way to new and unique NFTs.

Each of the 32 artists involved in the exhibition, some of which have never created an NFT and others who have never worked outside of the NFT spectrum, has created a piece that represents their respective country. They have done so by using the colors of the jerseys adorned by their nation’s team.

After each match, the aforementioned AI will combine the artists’ pieces by taking in match statistics and inputting them into the algorithm. The result is a unique new NFT artwork representing the two teams involved and the match itself. Some of the man-made and computer-generated NFT artworks are still to be unveiled, pending on the results of upcoming matches.

NFTs Have Brought Color to the 2022 FIFA World Cup

There has been no shortage of World Cup-themed NFT drops in the last weeks. From art to collectibles, Non-Fungible Tokens have taken over and are all the rage during this year’s event. Crypto.com, one of the official sponsors for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, has taken the lead and partnered with several mainstream brands to bring NFTs to the sporting event of the year.

In November, Crypto.com partnered with VISA to launch the “Masters of Movement” NFT collection. The two companies released the collection in Crypto.com’s NFT platform in an auction that will see all proceeds donated to the Street Child United charity. The collection celebrates the movements that led to well-remembered goals scored during previous editions of the FIFA World Cup.

Recently, Crypto.com announced a partnership with Coca-Cola to release another FIFA World Cup-inspired NFT drop. The “Piece of Magic” collection has been created with the help of the digital artist GMUNK and is based on heat maps that represent the movements and highlights of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. 10,000 Non-Fungible Tokens have been created based on the aforementioned heat maps, and they will be available in the Crypto.com NFT marketplace.
