Dr. Bombay making waves
The Dr. Bombay Collection effortlessly merges streetwear elements with symbols from Snoop Dogg’s decorated career. Particularly prominent are images of Dr. Bombay, the highly treasured Bored Ape NFT used by Snoop Dogg to create his new ice cream line.
Each design tells a story, echoing the rapper’s extensive journey in the industry. Launched last week on Skecher’s website, the highlight piece is an updated Skechers Uno, boasting leopard print laces and Dr. Bombay’s imprint.
But it’s not just shoes. The Collector’s Edition Capsule is also turning heads, featuring a Doggy Air silhouette with a translucent heel compartment paired with a matching-designed Hyper Slide sandal.
The rapper announced the new drop last week on Instagram:
“Step yo shoe game up with my style and swag in every pair, (…) With Skechers, you’ll be comfortable wherever you go. Wear them with a suit to a wedding or on the court with shorts, you’ll look fly either way because these shoes are for everyone.”
The OG Capsule, which debuted on August 1, was another product of the Snoop-Skechers partnership. Simpler than the Dr. Bombay collection, the OG Capsule offered adaptable shoes ideal for daily wear.
It showcases the revamped Snoop One OG, a variation of the Hands-Free Slip-Ins equipped with Snoop’s top-rated Comfort Technology. Also in the collection is the Snoop One Double G, a premium court shoe with features such as leather paisley designs.
The new drop signifies the influence of blockchain on pop culture. It illustrates the NFT’s journey from a mere digital keepsake to an essential element of lifestyle branding. With this collection, Snoop Dogg cleverly fuses fashion, fame, and technology to the delight of fans and sneaker lovers alike.
