OKX partners with four Manchester City players to develop its metaverse
OKX has announced a new partnership with players of the Premier League playing Manchester City FC. The cryptocurrency exchange made the announcement on February 2 on its website.
Giving fans Web3 experience on favorite players
The post titled “OKX and Manchester City players launch ‘OKX Collective,’ an immersive metaverse fan experience” said that the crypto exchange is partnering with four Manchester City FC stars in its metaverse project meant for fans. The players, according to the release, are Jack Grealish, Rúben Dias, Ilkay Gündoğan, and Alex Greenwood.
The cryptocurrency exchange said that OKX Collective is a virtual universe that would enable fans to access the decentralized web where they’re entertained with unique content with the opportunity of receiving rewards from their favorite players from the club.
The OKX Collective offers fans unique experiences on the pattern of play exhibited by each of the players and their personal off-pitch interests.
In his reaction to the partnership, Jack Grealish, one of the quartet, said that the deal is a win-win for Manchester City FC and OKX because the OKX Collectible is a platform that brings the fans ‘closer to the action’ in a unique combination of football and metaverse.
The evolution of football
Alex Greenwood commented on the collaboration, stating that it is part of the evolution of football that people often talk about. He said that the OKX Collective holds a lot of promise for fans in love with trainers and NFTs.
Haider Rafique, Chief Marketing Officer at OKX, said that the OKX Collective introduces the boundless opportunities inherent in Web3 to fans and players.

The statement from OKX said that fans who interact with the metaverse would be treated to NFT-themed digital experiences, music, exclusive content featuring each of the players, and more.
Insight to behind-the-scene player actions
In his comment about the partnership, Ilkay Gündoğan said:

Rúben Dias, one of the players involved in the partnership, said that the OKX metaverse would give fans insight on how he prepares matchdays. He added that he’s delighted to showcase the possibilities available in the metaverse while learning more about it.
OKX has been a partner of Manchester City Football Club. The exchange is the club’s training kit partner for the current season. The exchange also has partnered with global brands and athletes such as the English Premier League champions, McLaren Formula 1, the Tribeca Festival, Olympian Scotty James, F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo and golfer Ian Poulter.
