NFT collector Cozomo de’ Medici gives 22 works of blockchain art to LA museum
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) unveiled a gift from a mysterious NFT collector, speculated by some to be Snoop Dogg. The gift consists of 22 works of art that have been specially minted on the blockchain.

According to the Lacma, this is the largest and first collection to make its way into an American art museum. It should be noted, however, that there is a mystery as to the identity of the donor.
The paintings, which make their debut at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on the 13th of February, were created by 13 artists from around the world. According to the institution, these artworks tell a story representing the cryptoart movement. These include artificial intelligence (AI) art by Claire Silver and NFT photograph by Justin Aversano.
Among the artpieces offered is the ‘Survive All Apocalypses’ painting by Neil Strauss. Lacma will be hosting works by artists such as Cai Guo-Qiang, who is the digital illustrator Yam Karkai. There will also be CryptoPunks by John Watkinson and Matt Hall, as the museum will not be forgetting to honor the pixel-art avatars which are the first examples of NFT art.
It is important to remember that Lacma has placed a high value on artists who have been engaging with technology for decades. The museum will be offering an ART+ Technology Lab, with the aim of financing and supporting artists.
However, this only concerns those who wish to experiment with new technologies. It is a project that has its origins in a program that began in 1967. In addition, the institution announced a new fund for the acquisition of works by women artists last June. This is being established by the heiress and NFT evangelist Paris Hilton.
Who is Cozomo de’Medici?
The name of the anonymous donor was chosen in honor of the great Italian banker and great Florentine Renaissance patron of the same name. He first appeared on the crypto scene in August 2021 and is building a collection of NFTs worth approximately $17 million.
The anonymous NFT whale gained a following on Twitter following the donation. The identity of Cozomo was claimed by the famous rapper Snoop Dogg in a tweet.
Some internet users have managed to accept the fact that Snoop Dogg is the famous NFT collector behind this donation. Others are skeptical about his claim. Lacma is not willing to clarify the identity of this mysterious benefactor.
NFTs being displayed in museums around the world
Cozomo de ‘Medici’s donation considerably expands the NFT collection of the Lacma museum, a collection that started in 2021 with a gift from John Gerrard. According to Cozomo de’Medici, this donation is intended to bring the worlds of chain art and contemporary art closer together.
