New ‘Wreck League’ game from nWay will incorporate Bored Ape NFTs

Game developer and publisher nWay, in association with Animoca Brands and Yuga Labs, has unveiled its innovative Web3-based game, ‘Wreck League.’

Mech fighting game

nWay, a multiplayer game maker and arm of Animoca Brands, seeks to revolutionize competitive gaming by enabling players to craft, own, and combat with unique Mech fighters.

As seen in the trailer below, the game’s inaugural season will incorporate four Yuga Labs collections: Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Bored Ape Kennel Club, and Otherside Kodas.

Combining the best of both worlds

Featuring a hybrid design, Wreck League offers both Web2 and Web3 versions. “Wreck League is a hybrid Web3 and Web2 project,” Taehoon Kim, CEO of nWay explained.

A free-to-play (F2P) version, not necessitating NFT ownership, will also be available, catering to both the Web3 community and traditional gamers. The aim is to merge the communities, capitalizing on the creative potential of the Web3 community to persistently enhance the game.

Owners of Mech NFTs can generate non-NFT copies of their Mechs for sale, with a share of the revenue going to the original Mech NFT owners. The Web3 version caters to mech NFT holders with a two-week leaderboard tournament, starting with the minting of the mechs.

Key to the Wreck League experience is a community that encompasses creators, owners, and players who can form alliances for league events. Continuous customization is enabled by disassembling and reassembling the ten individual Mech Parts NFTs.

Creating a competitive environment for esports

The game’s creators believe in creating a thriving community through real-time multiplayer PvP matches. Wreck League holds promising potential for the esports industry, according to Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands.

He anticipates the game to bring a substantial transformation in competitive gaming as it offers players ownership of their digital assets.

Bored Ape Mechs

Rare Yugaverse Mechs will also be available for players in the game, offering an exclusive achievement. Spencer Tucker, chief gaming officer of Yuga Labs, expressed excitement at nWay’s involvement, highlighting the game’s alignment with the interoperable ecosystem that Web3 encourages. This collaboration promises a compelling gaming experience and additional utility for the respective collections’ holders.
