Web3 Scavenger Hunt
From August 21 to October 31, visitors are invited to participate in the Seaport Scavenger Hunt. This unique event challenges participants to find ten purple “pearls” hidden throughout the Seaport neighborhood. The pearls are equipped with QR codes that can be scanned using a mobile device.

Upon scanning the QR code, participants will receive a free digital token designed by renowned 3D artist and non-fungible token (NFT) creator Johana Kroft. Each NFT represents a playful interpretation of iconic New York City objects.
Participants who collect all ten tokens will be eligible to enter a weekly prize drawing. Prizes include VIP tickets to the Summer Concert Series on The Rooftop at Pier 17, complimentary workouts at HIIT the Deck Boxing, and curated culinary gift boxes worth up to $350 from the Tin Building. Those who play multiple times each week will have a greater chance of winning these coveted prizes.
Seaport is a community anchor
Historically a maritime and commercial hub, the Seaport has since transformed into a bustling entertainment and dining destination in Lower Manhattan. The area attracts creative businesses, drawn by its vibrant atmosphere and connectivity. It serves as a community anchor, enhancing the neighborhood’s dynamic ambiance.
The Web3 scavenger hunt aims to engage locals and travelers, offering them unique and valuable prizes while showcasing the transformative power of NFTs.
Created by MoonPay and partners
MoonPay’s advanced suite of products, including HyperMint for NFT smart contract management and minting, powers the Seaport’s digital experience. The entire experience is built on the Polygon network, and MoonPay-powered wallets will securely store the NFTs.
QR technology from Flowcode, a direct-to-consumer connections brand, will bring the scavenger hunt to life. The creative direction for the project was spearheaded by Mason Rothschild’s Web3 marketing agency, Gasoline, in collaboration with Howard Hughes’ in-house creative studio.
“The Seaport is not only an iconic location but also a historical beacon of innovation, (…) It provides the ideal canvas to integrate Web3 technologies seamlessly for millions of locals and travelers — enhancing their visit and engaging them in all that the Seaport offers.” – Ivan Soto-Wright, CEO at MoonPay.
Julie Allen, senior vice president of digital & creative at The Howard Hughes Corp., showed his enthusiasm for the collaboration:
“Howard Hughes has a long history of championing innovation through creating exceptional experiences, and we are excited to work with MoonPay to keep the Seaport on the leading edge of digital activation, (…) The Seaport is the perfect place to launch this new digital experience, which represents our ongoing commitment to providing a hub for technological advancement through creative and dynamic programming.”
