McDonald’s Singapore offers new limited edition Grimace NFTs

McDonald’s Singapore has announced the release of 2,000 exclusive Grimace digital collectibles, created in collaboration with Bandwagon Labs and local NFT artist ‘The Hidden Walls’. Each collectible features its own unique design, providing fans and collectors with the opportunity to own a piece of McDonald’s history.

McDonald’s mascot goes digital

For over half a century, the affable and spirited character Grimace has held a cherished spot in the McDonald’s universe. Now, according to a Facebook post, he will be immortalized on the blockchain with a nostalgic NFT collection.

Drina Chee, the senior director of marketing and digital customer experience at McDonald’s Singapore, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for the initiative:

“We’re excited to bring Grimace closer to our fans through these unique digital collectibles,”

She added that Grimace has a special place in the hearts of many fans and that this initiative allows the character to evolve from nostalgic memories to love for all generations.

Mint is free and open to anyone

The introduction of these digital tokens reflects McDonald’s Singapore’s ongoing pledge to deliver unforgettable experiences to its clientele. The 2,000 unique Grimace designs are free for anyone to redeem through the McDonald’s app, serving as a testament to the company’s dedication to staying at the forefront of innovation and elevating the brand experience for all customers.

The minting process requires one to have a Digital Collectibles wallet, available through Web3auth or the MetaMask app. Only one redemption per account is allowed, and the NFTs cannot be traded or transferred. Those who manage to get their hands on an NFT will be given exclusive perks in the future.

Celebrating in style

This is not the first time the company has celebrated Grimace in recent times. The fast-food chain celebrated Grimace’s 52nd birthday with a brand-new video game.

The 2D retro-style game, which can be played on a computer or mobile phone, allows users to immerse themselves in Grimace’s world as he races around classic birthday scenes to find his friends and cut his birthday cake.

In the U.S., McDonald’s celebrated Grimace’s 52nd birthday with the Grimace Shake, a berry-flavored milkshake. The Grimace Shake inspired a viral TikTok trend where users mimicked death scenes after drinking the shakes.

Exploring the Metaverse

Fans and collectors can look forward to owning a piece of the fast-food empire’s history when the NFTs become available starting next week.

They will also be happy to know that just last month, McDonald’s Hong Kong released a virtual experience on The Sandbox metaverse as a way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the McNugget.
