Crypto-Themed World Cup Events Launched by Gate.io
Gate.io, a Chinese-based cryptocurrency centralized exchange (CEX), launched two World Cup-themed events for a chance to win up to $60,000 in prize pools.
Celebrating the World Cup with Gate.io
The FIFA World Cup is the biggest sporting event of the year every four years. This year, for the first time ever, the 32 national teams are participating in the Middle East, in Qatar. This will be only the second time that the football competition is being played in Asia – it took place in South Korea exactly 20 years ago.
Since 2002, lots of events have happened that helped change and shape the world, but arguably none of them was as impactful as the rise of cryptocurrencies, web3, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Now, to celebrate the FIFA World Cup together with the crypto community, Gate.io has launched two World Cup-themed events, offering its users a total of $60,000 in max prize pools.
These football events will be available for all users on Gate NFT, Gate.io’s own NFT launchpad and marketplace, for the duration of the World Cup, that is, from the 20th of November to the 19th of December. The World Cup has already begun and saw the host Qatar lose 2-0 to South American side Ecuador in the first match.
What Are These Events About?
From the 20th of November onwards, Gate.io’s users can access Gate NFT and select a World Cup side to support. Users can then win points by completing tasks (inviting friends, completing an NFT transaction, or joining the community) and playing games available at Gate.io’s website (games like Midgard Saga, WOMG Game Box, or Gatsby).
Teams who finish with the highest number of points will split a maximum prize pool of $10,000. Participants in this event will also be awarded entries to a random draw contest for a chance to win special NFTs and token rewards.
Additionally, Gate NFT will also be hosting a fantasy football competition with a max total prize pool of $50,000. Each NFT in this event represents one of the 32 participating countries, and traders can choose from a variety of NFTs from Gate’s 2022 Fantasy Football collection. Participants will play for a total of five rounds – one for each World Cup stage. Each round’s prize fund will be split between players holding NFTs of the winning teams.
