Crypto.com begins listing Ordinals NFTs

The Crypto.com app has listed Bitcoin Ordinals (ORDI), adding it to the growing roster of supported cryptocurrencies and stablecoins, some of which include Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), USD Coin (USDC), and Chainlink (LINK).
According to today’s announcement, users can now purchase ORDI at true cost using USD, GBP, EUR, and over 20 fiat currencies.
Crypto.com app users can also spend the ORDI on more than 80 million merchants globally through the platform’s Visa Card.
Growth of Ordinals
Ordinals have been listed on the app following the immense growth of the protocol since its recent launch in January 2023.
About a month after it went live, the number of inscriptions surpassed 75,000 and 100,000 within 24 hours in February.
Since then, it has experienced booming growth as the total number of inscriptions reached 3 million as of the beginning of May, with the number of daily inscriptions going over 300,000.
This move exposes ORDI to Crypto.com’s tens of millions of app users, allowing further opportunities for growth and adoption.
Ordinals bug
Ordinals protocol was involved in a scandal just days ago when a developer, known as ‘Super Testnet”, initiated a transaction that had no inputs and outputs but still read as valid, breaking the inscription numbering system.
Ordinals founder Casey Rodarmor offered a solution by implementing an upgrade on the system, with the effect of this being that all programs following this one (3492721) would be affected, throwing the numbering system off.
Experts have noted that the numbering system has been off for quite some time but that the ID system of inscriptions is still intact, with indexing not being key to the proper functioning of Ordinals. Although this occurrence sparked some controversy, it has had no significant bearing on ORDI overall.
