Bugatti and Asprey announce new NFT collection of precious eggs
In a stunning new partnership, the prestigious British luxury brand Asprey and the legendary French car manufacturer Bugatti have joined forces to produce a collection of limited-edition precious eggs.
The Asprey Bugatti Egg Collection
The newest addition to the collection, the Royale Edition, is a masterful blend of the Bugatti family’s timeless designs and Asprey’s exceptional heritage and artistry.
The egg shape was highly esteemed by Carlo Bugatti, the father of Ettore Bugatti, who famously proclaimed that the egg was the purest and most perfect shape. This statement served as a catalyst for the collaboration between Bugatti and Asprey in early 2022, enabling both esteemed luxury brands to combine their expertise in both the physical and digital realms.
The Royale Edition of the Asprey Bugatti Egg Collection pays homage not only to Carlo’s admiration for the egg shape but also to Bugatti’s iconic horseshoe grille, which Ettore designed as a tribute to his father’s affection for fluid, curved forms, including the egg.
The collection will be dropped on the Bitcoin blockchain
The Asprey Bugatti Egg Collection is truly exceptional in that it will be created as both physical objets d’art and NFT generative artwork, making it the first-ever collaboration between two luxury brands to utilize cutting-edge technology to inscribe digital content onto the Bitcoin blockchain, thanks to the Ordinals protocol.
Combining technology and exquisite art
The Royale Edition’s eggshell in the Asprey Bugatti Egg Collection is made of carbon fiber and is painstakingly crafted into a flawless egg shape through a lengthy and complicated process that is free of any disproportion or imperfections. It is encased in a sterling silver diamond weave lattice that gradually slants downwards to a curved base, depicting movement and reflecting Asprey’s jewelry heritage, as well as the ornate furniture designs of Carlo Bugatti and the art nouveau period, which are essential to both brands.
One of Rembrandt Bugatti’s original sculptures, the “Dancing Elephant,” has been flawlessly reproduced on the surface of the egg, down to the smallest detail, by the skilled silversmiths at Asprey.
The complex hinged Asprey diamond door of the intricate lattice and carbon fiber shell opens to reveal a stunning scene of the Chateau Saint Jean, Bugatti’s iconic home in Molsheim. In the foreground, a sterling silver stylized Bugatti Type 41 Royale Esders is displayed, which can be removed if desired.
Ali Walker, Asprey Studio’s Artist and Chief Creative Officer, highlighted the innovative generative art aspect of the collection, which was coded by their strategic partner and Bitcoin experts, Metagood. The NFT is created using the egg shape equation of the physical sculpture, which is a novel form of art and expression. The NFT and the sculpture are intrinsically linked through this equation, adding a unique dimension to the collection.
In April 2023, the Asprey Studio Gallery will be launched in Mayfair to coincide with the release of the collection.
