Bicycle joins the NFT wave with Bored Apes’ limited-edition Decks

For generations, Bicycle Playing Cards have been synonymous with game nights, magic shows, and vintage collections. Now, the 135-year-old card company is making a foray into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), blending old-school charm with Bored Apes’ flair.

The launch of the limited-edition card deck will feature the #1227 Bored Ape, which was previously purchased by Bicycle.

After purchasing the NFT, Bicycle launched a global casting call via Twitter, which was cleverly named “#1227CastingCall.” Fans were invited to participate in a “Joker Fan Vote Bracket” tournament.
The result is the newly-announced Bored Ape Community Playing Card Collection, which is now available for preorder. The collection comprises two specialized decks: the Golden Banana and the limited-edition Silver Banana.
Both of these exclusive decks feature 54 playing cards graced by individual Bored Apes, while the tuck cases themselves showcase a variety of 57 additional Bored Apes. Craig Townsend, the EVP of North America at Cartamundi, Bicycle’s parent company, expressed excitement about fusing the legacy of Bicycle’s community-building cards with the spirited culture of Bored Ape enthusiasts.
Exclusive offerings for NFT holders
The Golden Banana deck is reserved exclusively for BAYC, MAYC, BAKC communities, and Bicycle NFT holders, adding an extra layer of exclusivity.
Additionally, Bicycle will unveil the “Ape Hundred” limited edition 3-pack collections for both the Golden and Silver Banana decks. These collections will offer double the number of playing cards and come with a personalized display case, retailing at $199.99 USD.
Merchandise galore
In collaboration with Fred Segal, the iconic lifestyle brand, Bicycle is also releasing summer-ready apparel. From T-shirts featuring original Bicycle card artwork to hoodies that showcase the 1227 Bored Ape as the signature Bicycle Joker, the merchandise promises something for everyone.
A one-of-a-kind experience
In the new collection, every tuck case will stand out with its own distinct background, turning each deck into a unique collectible item. Masha Ievseieva, Vice President of North America Marketing and Global Insights at Bicycle, shared that the partnership with Bored Ape holders has been extremely enjoyable and that the team is looking forward to releasing this unparalleled collection.
To make the collection even more personal, verified Bored Ape holders whose NFTs are featured will receive the Golden Banana deck with a one-of-a-kind Joker NFT crafted in their likeness.
Bicycle’s blend of traditional cards and cutting-edge technology presents a compelling case for the future of collecting. The Golden Banana and Silver Banana decks are now up for grabs at $49.99 USD, and preorders are currently available on Bicycle’s website.
