Celebrating Back to the Future Day
October 21 holds a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts. It’s officially recognized as Back to the Future Day, making the iconic date when Marty McFly, played by Michael J. Fox, journeyed through time in the second film of the franchise.
This year, however, the special occasion will be celebrated by bringing the sci-fi trilogy into the digital realm.
Doc, you’re my only hope!
Beginning October 17 at 11 AM Pacific Time, fans can get their hands on the unique Funko Digital Pop! collectibles inspired by all three films of the series. This collection includes six characters: Marty McFly, Doc Brown, Lorraine Baines, Griff Tannen, George McFly, and a special edition of Freddy Funko as Doc Brown.
Collectors can choose between standard packs retailing for $9.99 or splurge on the premium packs priced at $29.99.

Making it even more convenient for enthusiasts, purchases can be made on the NFT platform, Droppp.io, using credit cards, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Plus, every acquisition gives collectors a chance to unveil a rare Funko Digital Pop! The rare ones can be exchanged for one of six physical Pop! collectibles corresponding to the digital versions.
A partnership that stretches back to 2013
Funko and “Back to the Future” aren’t strangers. Their partnership dates back to 2013 when the first Funko Pop! figures of Marty McFly and Doc Brown were released. Since then, there have been numerous variant figures, event exclusives, and even a 35th-anniversary line of Pops.
These new collectibles are officially licensed by Universal Games & Digital Platforms in collaboration with Funko. For those unfamiliar with Droppp.io, the platform has made a name for itself by releasing several NFT collections inspired by franchises such as Game of Thrones and Power Rangers.
It’s clear that the timeless appeal of “Back to the Future” continues to captivate, now merging the classic with the contemporary. Fans can rejoice as the series’ characters, and their thrilling adventures across the space-time continuum, will now be immortalized on the blockchain.
