Alethea AI makes it possible for users to build AI character NFTs on Polygon

Alethea has brought the power of generative AI to the Polygon network. The Alethea AI enables users to build Ethereum-based NFT characters.

Alethea and Polygon

Alethea, the Singapore-based company which has raised $32 million in funding, collaborated with Polygon to bring a first-of-its-kind AI character creation to the network.

Alethea’s AI launch on Polygon brought the possibility of minting millions of AI-generated NFT characters that can demonstrate specific traits on deployment.

The company said this development was made possible through a synergy between the AI company and Polygon. It added that the initiative would enable creators to mint, train, and trade them. The Alethea team states that the AI characters project was funded by the Polygon network.

Prompt-generated AI characters

Arif Khan, the CEO of Alethea AI, said that what has happened since the company started its collaboration with Polygon is that AI characters can now be generated from user prompt.

“Since we last talked, the thing that is different now is the character’s body is generated from the prompt from the user. And the personality is also generated from the prompt. So it’s like a full character creator, just from the prompt. Previously, the users were creating the personality, giving it a name, giving it habits, this and that. So now, the user enters a police officer and it generates everything,” – Arif Khan

Alethea recently launched its Generative AI System CharacterGPT. The company said that the system is more advanced than the common text-to-image system being a multimodal text-to-character system which the company has been working on and improving on in the past 4 years.

CharacterGPT supports users in generating an interactive character that exhibits intelligence. This is done via a single-line prompt made in a natural language. The recent launch by Alethea supports the creation of free AI characters using the dApp, mycharacter.ai, and minting the user-generated AI character on the Polygon network. Visuals, as well as personality functions, are enabled by the protocol.

A digital twin of Sandeep Nailwal

To show users how this works, the co-founder of Polygon, Sandeep Nailwal, was made into a one-on-one AI Collectible. It is an illustrative program built from his interviews and writings which can now be accessed on mycharacter.ai. This is more like a digital version of Nailwal made with Alethea’s generative AI system.

Using the system, users on the Polygon blockchain can interact with the program known as Digital Twin to make their AI more intelligent prior to minting them as non-fungible tokens. Polygon network said that the program also educates users on the benefits of using the blockchain using data modeled from the co-founder’s entrepreneurial experience.

In a statement on what Alethea has accomplished, Nailwal said:

“Generative AI is advancing at a rapid rate and has the potential to profoundly impact our lives in the coming years. I have seen firsthand how Alethea AI has developed this technology over the last few years and through their CharacterGPT AI engine, users will be able to create interactive characters in a matter of seconds. We are excited to continue supporting Alethea as it builds on Polygon and to bring the power and potential of generative AI to our thriving ecosystem.”

Use cases of AI characters

Regarding the use cases of CharacterGPT, Ahmed Matyana, the COO of Alethea AI, said that users can generate intelligent characters capable of operating as their personal AI companions or even digital guides. He said that just like what the Polygon co-founder has done, other prominent and popular individuals could build their own digital twins using the system.

These can serve as digital versions that their fans can use for companionship. He added that the digital assets could find utility in metaverses, games, avatars, AI art, museums, and in other things.

Matyana said that deploying on the Polygon blockchain allows users to own AI collectibles exclusively in their wallets:

“We believe a multimodal system like CharacterGPT will herald a Cambrian explosion in character and IP creation, backed by a decentralized model of ownership and governance.”

One of the challenges that AI companies face at the moment is the mode of training for their models which entails the use of datasets accessed without the consent of their owners. Sandeep Nailwal’s Digital Twin is the first of these AI-generated NFT launched by Alethea. It sits on his Web3 wallet on the Polygon network. The collaboration with Polygon has also seen a property rights layer for AI-generated characters on the network.
